A 15-year-old boy was apprehended following a tense incident at Northwest High School, which was put into lockdown, reported WLWT. The teenager, not attending the school within the Northwest Local School District, faces multiple charges after allegedly brandishing a gun during a dismissal-time disturbance last Wednesday, according to a WLWT News report.
According to the Colerain Township Police, officers dispatched to the school encountered the suspects fleeing. Recovering a gun in an adjacent neighborhood, the young suspect was charged with aggravated menacing, receiving stolen property, and illegal possession of a deadly weapon in a school safety zone, as FOX19 noted, among other infractions.
Authorities initiated the lockdown after two individuals, one of whom was the arrested 15-year-old, allegedly approached a student in what dissolved into a would-be altercation. "We want to thank the students who reported the information to the NWHS Administrative Team," as per FOX19, conveyed the Northwest Local School District in appreciation of those who act upon the mantra—See Something, Say Something.
WCPO shared that the safety measures included canceling Thursday's classes to prepare staff to support the shaken student body. Northwest High School Principal Alex Shrewsberry, sincerely apologizing for the disruption, underscored the intent to ensure a safe and supportive return to school on Friday. In his statement relaying plans for a day of reflection and preparation, he said via FOX19 News, "The incident that occurred this afternoon has understandably caused great concern among our school community."
