The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office reported that the teenager was swimming with his family when the current overpowered him, despite rescue efforts that managed to save other members of his family.
The alarm was raised at around 7:20 a.m., prompting immediate response from the Boynton Beach Fire Rescue. A child was quickly rescued from the water, but the focus then turned urgently to locate and retrieve the teen and his struggling mother.
