A woman in her 40s was fatally injured while operating a motorcycle in an accident occurring in South Salt Lake, police officials reported. The collision took place at the intersection of Main St. and Truman Ave. on Nov. 13, shortly before noon, as detailed by ABC4.
Following the incident, first responders transported the woman to a nearby hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. The identity of the woman has yet to be released pending notification of next of kin, however, she was identified as being 40 years old, South Salt Lake Police detective Ryan Alvarez informed KSL.
As investigators worked the scene of the crash, the intersection was closed for several hours, causing detours and delays in the surrounding area. Authorities have not yet determined the official cause of the crash, and the investigation remains ongoing. They, however, anticipate more information to emerge as they analyze the collision site and speak with potential witnesses.
Local traffic was significantly affected by the road closure with police estimating a reopening time between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., as reported by FOX13. The South Salt Lake Police Department has appealed to the public, that anyone with information related to the crash is encouraged to come forward to assist with the ongoing investigation.
