
Tragedy struck on a South Florida highway when a woman was shot while driving her car, with her child present, on Interstate 95. The incident occurred in the southbound lanes near Northwest 135th Street. Authorities say the woman was traveling in a black Lexus when shots were fired from another vehicle, Local 10 reports.
The shooting left the woman, who has yet to be named, in critical condition and prompted immediate transport to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center. Her child, a 5-year-old boy, managed to escape harm by ducking to the car floor during the violence. The Florida Highway Patrol was forced to close the highway to investigate the scene, where a bullet hole was visible in the car's window.
As per the NBC Miami coverage, the family of the victim reported she was hit in the neck area after at least two gunshots were heard. Francisco Pisano, a local resident near the highway, recounted hearing screaming and saw a woman holding a baby after the shooting event. The suspect vehicle is described as possibly a white Honda sedan, but no further information about the suspect or the motive is available at this time.
