
A 14-year-old boy was seriously injured in a drive-by shooting incident on the Southeast Side of Chicago on Monday morning.
The shooting took place just before 10:00 a.m. on the 8000 block of South Escanaba Avenue. According to Chicago police statements, the victim was walking when an unidentified black Nissan Altima approached, and occupants inside the vehicle fired shots. The report by WGN-TV noted that the car fled southbound on Escanaba Avenue immediately after the attack.
After the gunfire, the teenage boy suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was promptly transported to Comer Children’s Hospital. The Chicago Sun-Times further conveyed that the young victim’s condition was stabilized following the emergency intervention.
At this time, there are no suspects in custody in connection with the shooting, and Chicago's Area Two detectives are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
