A young male, aged 14, is facing serious charges after being arrested in connection with a series of vehicular hijackings and armed robberies in DeKalb, Illinois. The juvenile offender, whose identity has been withheld due to his age, was apprehended yesterday by the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force and the Robbery Task Force. This joint effort brought the suspect into custody on the 500 block of W. Dresser Rd., as reported by the Chicago Police Department's official news release.
The charges laid out against the teenager are severe and include two felony counts of aggravated vehicular hijacking with a firearm and two felony counts of armed robbery. The incidents leading to these charges occurred earlier in the year, spanning a period of two consecutive days at the end of June.
The confirmed incidents took place across three different locations, beginning on June 29 in the 3700 block of N. Clark St., the next day on June 30 in the 5100 block of W. Dakin St., and again on the same date in the 5200 block of W. Fullerton Ave. Identified as one of the participants in these crimes, the young offender's actions have drawn not just the attention of law enforcement but also the communal eye who, wary of violence, seeks some form of justice and reprieve.
Further details regarding the investigation or the circumstances of the juvenile's alleged involvement have not been released.
