Brace yourself for a wind-whipped evening in the Bay Area as the National Weather Service forecast office in San Francisco warns of gusty northeast winds set to sweep through the region tonight into Monday. The NWS advises securing loose items and exercising caution while driving high-profile vehicles, especially across higher elevations such as the interior North Bay mountains, East Bay and east Santa Clara Hills, and the Santa Cruz Mountains. Wind gusts are expected to reach 35 to 45 miles per hour in eastern Napa County and 25 to 35 miles per hour in other affected areas. This information comes as part of a larger weather advisory published by the NWS.

Alongside gusty conditions, the NWS also highlights a chilly surprise with widespread inland lows in the 30s forecasted for Monday and Tuesday morning. A "Frost Advisory" is poised to be issued as confidence increases in anticipation of these cooler temperatures. The NWS comments, "Low temperatures will warm up through the rest of the week as high clouds return to limit radiational cooling." Looking ahead, rain might appear by midweek, improving chances for some needed precipitation by Friday into the weekend, particularly in the North Bay, where significant rainfall is possible.

Meanwhile, the aviation sector has its challenges with the current weather conditions. High clouds and fog will likely affect visibility in areas like the North Bay through the late morning. Pilots are likely to encounter variable conditions, and MVFR might persist due to a combination of haze and mist, particularly in valley terminals. However, the NWS indicates, "As the diurnal winds increase, the visibility will improve, and VFR conditions will prevail for the remainder of the TAF period under high clouds."

These weather developments do not spare marine activities. The NWS advises caution as strong northerly winds and rough seas are expected to continue throughout the day due to a cold front moving through the coastal waters. Sea conditions are forecast to improve by mid-day Monday after winds weaken overnight. The marine update details the fluctuating conditions expected for the remainder of next week and notes a Small Craft Advisory in effect until 9 AM PST Monday for specified areas along the coast.
