Chicago resident Stone Sawyer, 26, has been charged with one felony count of vehicular hijacking. According to a Chicago Police Department press release, Sawyer, from the 1400 block of W. 62nd St., was apprehended on December 19 at approximately 9:55 a.m. in the vicinity of the 600 block of W. 79th St.
In the incident leading to his arrest, Sawyer was recognized as the individual who forcibly took a vehicle from a 49-year-old female less than an hour earlier. The carjacking occurred in the 7300 block of S. Wood, within the 7th District. Following his capture, which occurred shortly after the alleged crime, Sawyer has been processed and formally charged.
