Over three years after a fatal shooting took the life of an 18-year-old female and nearly claimed that of a 22-year-old male in Chicago, an arrest has been made. The Chicago Police Department has charged Shawnyall Clair, 26, with one felony count of first-degree murder and another for attempted first-degree murder.
Clair was apprehended on December 5 and is now facing the consequences of a night that cut one life short and indelibly altered another. According to the Chicago Police release, the detention hearing took place at 2600 S. California on December 6.
The incident, dating back to June 21, 2021, happened in a vehicle parked in the 300 block of W. 52nd Pl. The arrest occurred after Clair was identified as a participant in the shooting, approximately three and a half years later, living on the 7300 block of S. Kenwood Ave. in Chicago, as per the CPD. The male, who was in the vehicle with the female victim, managed to escape injury. After being placed into custody, Clair faces a system where his fate will soon be deliberated by the scales of justice.
"No additional information is available at this time," the CPD statement noted, leaving a community with questions that linger far beyond the confines of a courtroom.
