Burglaries in Chicago's Gran neighborhoods have residents on edge, prompting a community alert from the Chicago Police Department. Over the past two weeks, burglars have entered residences through doors or windows. Once inside, they've made off with various pieces of property. The incidents occurred in the 4400 block of South Drexel Blvd., the 800 block of East 46th St. in the Grand Boulevard area, and the 4600 block of South Drexel Blvd. in North Kenwood.
These crimes took place within a timeframe stretching from December 12 at 9:00 PM to just last Sunday at 9:50 AM. Police are encouraging residents to take proactive measures to secure their properties. Suggested precautions include keeping the perimeter well-lit, reporting any unusual activity, ensuring that windows and doors are properly locked, and promptly fixing any breakages. For those with security systems, it's advised to hold onto video evidence that could assist in investigations, as details of the crimes continue to surface.
Victims of these burglaries are being instructed not to disturb the crime scene and to contact the police without delay. The Chicago Police Department is also asking residents to be forthcoming with any information they may have and to seek contact information from potential witnesses to aid in their ongoing investigations.
