Chicago police are on the lookout for a group of armed individuals suspected of a series of robberies that took place earlier this month across the North and Northwest sides. According to Chicago Sun-Times, the perpetrators targeted three separate businesses on December 6, forcing employees to hand over cash at gunpoint.
The string of crimes occurred within a short time frame, beginning early in the morning. Police shared that four males committed the robberies in under two hours, and in a particularly violent incident, a customer was also robbed. Additionally, in another instance, "one of the robbers punched an employee in the face," police said. Witnesses described the suspects as wearing black ski masks and black clothing, and they reportedly fled the scenes in a gray Kia Sorento.
The affected businesses are situated in areas that are generally busy with patrons and night activity, potentially suggesting a brazen disregard for detection on the part of the robbers. Police have informed us that the robberies occurred at 2:21 a.m. on North Lincoln Avenue, 3:43 a.m. on North Pulaski Road, and 3:46 a.m. on West Diversey Avenue—a proximity in timing and location that does not go unnoticed.
Building on the described events, CBS News Chicago reports that the Chicago Police Department released surveillance photos and video in hopes of apprehending the suspects. Their report includes a description of the robbers as four Black males dressed in black, along with their getaway strategy. Authorities are appealing to the public, encouraging anyone with information to reach out to the Belmont Area detectives at 312-744-8263 or Grand Central Area detectives at 312-746-7394.
