The Little Village neighborhood on Chicago's Southwest Side became the scene of a police investigation late Saturday night after a male was found deceased with a gunshot wound. According to WGN-TV, officers discovered the body in an alley on the 3100 block of West Cermak Road shortly after 10 p.m. He was pronounced dead at the location.
The circumstances of the shooting became slightly more clear as police also noted the proximity of a green SUV that had recently collided with an unoccupied parked vehicle. It is suspected that the victim was part of this crash before he met his fatal end. However, details including the victim's age and identity remain undisclosed at this time.
As per ABC 7 Chicago, the discovery was made following reports of shots fired in the neighborhood. Investigators are considering the possibility that the male may originally have been inside the struck vehicle.
No suspects have been taken into custody related to the shooting, and the specific sequence of events that led to the male's death remains vague. Chicago police's Area Four detectives are to diligently follow up on this case to understand how a traffic accident morphed into a tragic murder scene. As the community waits for answers, more information from the police is anticipated.
