In a move expected to fortify the chemical supply chain within the U.S., Chlorum Solutions USA LLC has initiated the construction of its premiere chlor-alkali plant in Casa Grande, Arizona, a key development that emphasizes localized chemical production amid growing supply chain concerns.
According to details announced by the company, the Casa Grande facility, situated on the northwest corner of Burris Road and Alamo Road, comes with a bundle of benefits, not only will it potentially refine supply chain efficacy by cutting down on the risks and costs associated with the long-haul transportation of chlorine gas, it also aligns with a rising demand for localized manufacturing solutions.
Daniel Croce, the CEO of Chlorum Solutions USA, in a statement obtained by Casa Grande's official website, highlighted the focus on "Safety and efficiency," stating the local model being pursued would reduce "risks and costs associated with transporting liquefied chlorine gas across the country," an initiative directly in tune with customer preference shifts.
The plan, representing an investment of over $70 million, will inject funds into the Casa Grande economy by creating jobs for engineers, operators, and administrative staff. It will also utilize cutting-edge, environmentally friendly membrane technology to produce sodium hypochlorite, hydrochloric acid, and caustic soda—products critical to industries like water treatment—that will primarily serve the Arizona market, reducing out-of-state chemical imports and strengthening local supply chains.
Casa Grande Mayor Lisa Navarro Fitzgibbons has welcomed this corporate move, pointing toward the city's strategic location and skilled workforce as advantages for industrial growth. The Arizona Commerce Authority and Greater Phoenix Economic Council have also conveyed strong support for Chlorum Solutions USA's presence, with the former's President and CEO Sandra Watson and the latter's President & CEO Chris Camacho noting the plant's contribution to Arizona's supply chain and regional industrial ecosystem, respectively.
