The City of Cookeville has officially canceled its annual Christmas parade, which was set to take place tonight. The decision comes after diligent monitoring of the impending adverse weather conditions, leading to concerns for public safety, as noted in a report by Herald Citizen.
In a statement, the city expressed its regret, stating, "The parade committee has been in constant contact with emergency management officials and meteorologists since early last week, evaluating options for having our Cookeville Christmas parade," as reported by WSMV.
The parade was initially postponed in hopes of better weather, but with rain and wind arriving as predicted on Saturday night, and more rain and gusty winds expected tonight, the event was ultimately canceled, according to the 3B Media News.
