Coweta County officials have issued a statement to clarify confusion regarding a "Public Opinion Survey" distributed by Opdenergy. According to the Coweta County website, the county is not involved with the survey that has been sent to local property owners. Despite its circulation, the county emphasizes that it is not affiliated with the survey's actions or intentions.
The next public hearing on the adoption of a Solar Energy System and Facilities Ordinance is scheduled for January 23, 2025, at 6 p.m. in the Commission Chambers at 37 Perry Street, Newnan. The county encourages residents to attend, and details about the ordinance draft are available on the Coweta County website.
The statement also clarifies that Opdenergy, the company behind the survey and proposed solar project, has not yet filed for the required zoning to move forward with the project. This means there are no immediate plans for clean energy development in the region.
