A tense standoff has unfolded in Daly City following a reported domestic disturbance last Saturday evening. According to a social media post by the Daly City Police Department, officers were dispatched to a residence on the 300 block of 88th Street after receiving a call about a physical altercation. Upon their arrival shortly before 7 pm, they were confronted by a 45-year-old woman wielding a kitchen knife.
The situation quickly escalated when the woman, who has not been identified, raised the weapon above her head and charged at the officers. The police managed to avoid a violent confrontation, retreating and then contained the individual within her home. As a result of the incident, several specialized units, including Daly City Police Detectives and the SWAT team, were called in to manage the scene and ensure neighbors' safety.
Efforts to resolve the incident have been ongoing, with Daly City Police confirming that negotiations have surpassed the 16-hour mark. The department's Crisis Negotiation Team and a licensed Crisis Response Clinician are working to end the standoff peacefully. Authorities note that the woman has so far refused to leave her home and is currently alone inside.
