
Tragedy struck El Cajon yesterday as a 63-year-old male pedestrian was struck and killed by a truck, with the driver initially fleeing the scene. According to official reports from the El Cajon Police Department, the incident occurred around 5:14 PM at 1368 E. Main Street. Despite prompt response from emergency services, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The police were able to track down the hit-and-run suspect through the city's Flock license plate reader system, eventually arresting a 64-year-old male who is now facing felony charges. A white 2005 Dodge Ram truck was located after the registered owner cooperated with authorities, and the driver agreed to meet officers at 1435 E. Main Street. At this point of the investigation, driving under the influence is not believed to be a contributing factor.
