
A fatal single-vehicle crash claimed the life of a driver Monday night in Chicago's Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood. The incident, which involved a motorist colliding with a light post, occurred in the 7900 block of South Avalon Avenue around 10:00 p.m., according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
The 31-year-old man was reported to have been driving eastbound when he lost control of his vehicle. Subsequently, he impacted a light pole. Fox 32 Chicago noted that the driver may have been speeding at the time of the accident. Police have yet to release further details about the cause of the crash.
Emergency services transported the victim to Trinity Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Cook County medical examiner's office has not yet released the name of the deceased, pending notification of next of kin.
No additional injuries were reported from the crash, and the investigation is currently being conducted by Area Two detectives.
