An elderly woman has been fatally shot and a man has been seriously injured at their home in a residential neighborhood of Gary, Indiana, on Wednesday evening. According to WGN-TV, Gary police arrived at the 1100 block of North Warren Street shortly after 7:20 p.m., where they found a 69-year-old man with a gunshot wound in the front yard.

Inside the house, officers discovered a 73-year-old woman suffering from a similar fate, the couple was identified as the homeowners and reportedly their vehicle, a blue Nissan Extera with a license plate reading "BLUE MOM," was also taken during the incident. CBS News reports that the woman was pronounced dead at St. Catherine's Hospital while the man received treatment at Methodist Northlake Hospital.
