As the winter chill sets in, Plymouth residents can find solace and stay active at the Plymouth Community Center, with options ranging from a lively indoor playground to complimentary walking tracks that beckon individuals and families alike. According to recent announcements, the facility at 14800 34th Ave. N offers diverse amenities that cater to varying age groups and preferences.
For those with little ones, the Kids Ultimate Backyard Experience (K.U.B.E.) indoor playground emerges as a cherished haven. Designed for children aged 2-12, the accessible playground includes a variety of fun equipment like ramps, slides, and climbing towers. While the hours typically run from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sundays are a bit different, with the space open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the early mornings and evenings reserved for private rentals.
For adults and youngsters alike, the indoor walking track offers a cost-free option for exercise, with strollers unwelcome to ensure an unobstructed path for walkers and joggers. The track is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. during the weekends. Additionally, the Fieldhouse dome's indoor track provides more space for free walking and jogging, with the added benefit of baby stroller accommodation, but, remember to layer up as dome temperatures fluctuate between 30-55 degrees based on outside conditions.
The center doesn't skimp on variety, with paid health and fitness classes including barre, TRX, yoga, and Zumba among others to fortify the body and spirit. Sports leagues and open gym times are also on the roster for those inclined toward team sports or individual workouts. For the broader community, the Fieldhouse dome caters to the playful spirit in all, offering soccer, football, rugby, and a potpourri of open play activities, and arsenals provided—sans bicycles, baseball bats, and lacrosse sticks for safety. Typically, the open play hours are from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, then 2-4 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday.
The Plymouth Community Center is attuned to the calendar as well, closing its doors on Dec. 24-25 and Jan. 1 in recognition of the Christmas and New Year's holidays. Nevertheless, Dec. 31 is a blend of routine and celebration at the facility, opening from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with the indoor playground accessible to the public from 9-11 a.m., before morphing into the venue for a New Year's Eve Party from noon to 4 p.m.
