A tragic collision occurred on the night of December 11th in Sevier County, claiming the life of a driver at the intersection of SR 24 and SR 259. According to the Utah Department of Public Safety, the incident involved two vehicles, a white Nissan Pathfinder and a gold Nissan Sentra.
The accident unfolded around 9:08 p.m. as the Nissan Pathfinder, traveling westward on SR 24, attempted a turn toward the northbound SR 259. Amid the maneuver, the SUV didn't acknowledge the presence of the oncoming Sentra, leading to a crash that impacted the left front sides of both cars. The driver of the Pathfinder escaped the wreck unscathed. Unfortunately, the person behind the wheel of the Sentra suffered fatal injuries. The names of the involved parties have so far not been released.
Local authorities were on the scene to investigate the causes and contributing factors of the accident. As the officials work to piece together the events leading up to the collision, they have not yet disclosed if weather conditions or other external factors played a role.
