The City of Fort Lauderdale has teamed up with Lanzo Construction Company to embark on a significant overhaul of the city's sewage infrastructure. As per the announcement made on the City of Fort Lauderdale's official website, the undertaking will focus on upgrading around 23,370 feet of large sanitary sewer pipelines in the NE/SE 9th and 10th avenues corridor, running from Sunrise Boulevard to the George T. Lohmeyer Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Set to commence this December, efforts will channel over 13,000 feet of existing pipelines into the annals of rehabilitation, while more than 10,000 feet of new pipes will be installed beneath the streets of Fort Lauderdale. Incorporated within this project is the restoration of existing sewer connections and road resurfacing as necessitated by the ebb and flow of construction. Optimized for minimal disruption, works are scheduled to occur from Monday to Friday, punctuating the day between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Although the project spans a timeline aiming for an August 2026 completion, residents are advised that schedules may change due to weather conditions and unexpected circumstances, as detailed by the city's official announcement.
To navigate the daily hustle, locals are advised of a no-parking policy on the streets from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., which will remain in effect until the project is completed. In order to preserve driveway access, construction crews will make efforts to minimize disruption near driveways. Warning signs and updated traffic instructions will guide commuters safely through the area during this time.
