
A fatal hit-and-run incident claimed the life of a bicyclist early morning yesterday along Davie Boulevard, near Interstate 95 in Fort Lauderdale. According to the Fort Lauderdale Police Department and Local 10, the crash occurred shortly before 6 a.m. in the 2000 block of West Davie Boulevard. Detective Ali Adamson, a spokeswoman for the department, reported that the driver involved in the collision fled the scene.
The unidentified bicyclist received immediate attention from Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue and was transported to a nearby hospital. The victim was later pronounced dead. The victim's identity has not been released. As the investigation continues, Detective Adamson is urging anyone with information to contact FLPD at 954-828-5700 or Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477 to remain anonymous.
NBC Miami reported that following the incident, a section of Davie Boulevard from SW 15th Avenue to the Interstate 95 on-ramp was shut down.
