KimLinh Ngo is making history at Georgia Gwinnett College by becoming the first student to earn three bachelor's degrees in one day. She will receive the degrees during the upcoming commencement ceremonies, as reported by FOX 5 Atlanta.
Ngo's education took a turn when she found a passion for programming. "She asked me if there was a course I had really enjoyed during my time at GGC, and the class that immediately came to mind was Introduction to Programming. I found programming to be both challenging and exciting, and it was a field that sparked my curiosity in a way that other courses hadn’t," Ngo told FOX 5 Atlanta. Originally studying pre-nursing, Ngo switched her focus and pursued degrees in business administration and management information systems, along with health science. She also worked at two restaurants to help pay for her education.
Ngo, who will graduate from Georgia Gwinnett College on Saturday as the first student in the school’s history to earn three academic credentials, says her parents’ hard work has been a major motivation. "Witnessing their hard work to pay the bills, support our family, and save for emergencies has been a huge motivation for me. It’s made me determined to work harder so one day I can retire them and ease their burdens," she shared. After graduation, she plans to pursue a career in data analysis or software engineering, as stated by FOX 5 Atlanta and Gwinnett Daily Post.
