Following a lengthy investigation, Hayward Police have made an arrest in a homicide case that occurred on Silva Avenue earlier this year. As reported by the Hayward Police Department, 34-year-old Randall Stoops of Hayward is now in custody, facing charges of murder and attempted murder stemming from an incident on August 18.
The altercation, which resulted in one death and left another injured, took place near the 24000 block of Silva Avenue. A 39-year-old man, later identified as Jose Quevedo, succumbed to stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. There was also a 37-year-old woman who sustained injuries but survived after receiving treatment at a local hospital. Her identity is currently withheld from the public.
Diligence on behalf of the detectives, through analysis of evidence and pursuit of leads, culminated in the arrest, which transpired yesterday at around 10:50 a.m. Stoops is being held at the Santa Rita County Jail.
Earlier reports from Hoodline detailed the dispatch of officers to the crime scene and noted that this incident marked the city's ninth homicide of the year. Detective Niedenthal continues to be the point of contact for the investigation, with authorities still urging anyone with further information to step forward.
