Lake Worth Beach Celebrates Holiday Cheer with Over 100 Bikes Gifted to Local KidsSource: Instagram/lakeworthbeachpbc

Over 100 children in Lake Worth Beach are experiencing a brighter holiday season thanks to a community bicycle giveaway. The city's annual event, held last Thursday, saw lucky kids between the ages of 3 and 16 receive brand-new bikes and helmets to celebrate the festive time of year. With safety as a priority, the program also included critical safety demonstrations to ensure these young riders could enjoy their new gifts responsibly, according to a news release obtained by CBS12.

The bicycles were distributed through a raffle system and winners were chosen at random, having signed up prior to the November 22 deadline. Lake Worth City Commissioner, Reinaldo Diaz, expressed his gratitude for the community support, telling CBS12, "We're appreciative of our sponsors and everybody who helped contribute because it's no small feat to give away this many bicycles. It takes a village to help the rest of the village."

This year's giveaway wouldn't have been possible without the sponsorship from local organizations and businesses. Among those who contributed were Lake Worth Beach Electric Utilities, Safe Kids of South Florida, Florida Blue, Healthier Lake Worth, The Rotary Club of Lake Worth Beach, Downtown Jewel Neighborhood Association, Guardian Solutions Group, and Mr. Greg Rice.

The sense of community was further highlighted on the Instagram account of Lake Worth Beach. They extended their heartfelt thanks to those involved, noting especially to the local kids and parents who won, "We successfully distributed over 100 free bicycles and helmets to local kids for the holiday season!" Recipients of the new bikes are invited to show off their new rides at the upcoming Festival of Lights Holiday Parade, as detailed on the city's Instagram post. The parade will take place on December 14 at 6 PM in downtown Lake Worth Beach, offering a platform for the children to proudly participate in the community event.
