Today, a situation unfolded at Hialeah Senior High School that resulted in the school being placed on a precautionary lockdown. WSVN reports that Hialeah Police responded to the school, situated at 251 E. 47th St. A noticeable police presence was established outside the school campus as the investigation progressed throughout the day.
Parents, reacting to the heightened police activity, converged on the site seeking information about their children and the situation underway. Chopper footage captured by NBC Miami revealed multiple officers from both Hialeah Police and Miami-Dade Schools Police at the school. While details are scant, it was observed that one officer exiting the school was holding what seemed to be a rifle, heightening the palpable concern among the assembled families.
With the school secured, the lockdown ensured the safety of students and staff as law enforcement worked through their protocols. Officials have not disclosed the nature of the investigation that precipitated the heavy police response, and as of this time, no one has been taken into custody.
