On Sunday morning, a shooting incident that left an 11-year-old boy injured in a Chicago neighborhood earlier this month led to the arrest of 27-year-old Jeston Harris. According to a Chicago Police Department news release, Harris turned himself in at 8:45 a.m., in the 700 block of E. 111th St. He was later charged with one felony count of aggravated battery/discharge of a firearm and four felony counts of aggravated assault/discharge of a firearm.
The charges stem from an incident on December 13, where it is alleged that Harris fired shots at a vehicle following a minor traffic crash, in the 1400 block of N. Western. One of the stray bullets struck an 11-year-old boy in the hand. The boy's involvement, it seems, was nothing more than being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Harris, of the 7900 block of S. Yale Ave. in Chicago, was placed into custody without further incident. The Chicago Police Department has not released additional details about the case, stating that no more information is available at this time.
