A 40-year-old man was shot and critically injured in the Carondelet neighborhood. The incident occurred yesterday, in the 6500 block of Minnesota at approximately 2:40 p.m., according to a report by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.
The victim recounted, before succumbing to his injuries that limited his ability to communicate further, how he had been walking down the alley when two individuals, their identities obscured by black ski masks and matching attire, emerged and shot him. The bullet found its mark in the man’s abdomen, leaving him in critical condition at the hospital.
Emergency Medical Services responded promptly to the scene and made haste to transport the injured man to a local hospital, where his wounds have him fighting for his life. As he battles through, the quest for justice is hampered as those responsible for the trigger pull shroud themselves in anonymity.
The District 1 detectives are urging the public to come forward with any knowledge of the circumstances surrounding this criminal act. In a bid to gather intelligence on the assailants, they are looking to the eyes and ears of the community — the custodians of Carondelet's streets, those who might have seen something, anything, out of the ordinary.
