An incident of fatal violence unfolded in Logan Square on Wednesday night, leaving one man dead following a shootout while driving a stolen vehicle. The confrontation took place around 8 p.m. in the 2300 block of North Kimball Avenue, according to FOX 32 Chicago. The man, whose identity has not been released, was operating a stolen gray sedan when he began to trade gunfire with individuals in a black SUV.
The exchange of shots quickly turned deadly as the driver of the sedan was struck once in the head. He subsequently crashed into two parked cars before the vehicle came to a stop. The seriousness of what transpired was underscored by the efforts of paramedics to urgently transport him to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead. A gun was found in the stolen car, as reported by the Chicago Sun-Times.
The Cook County medical examiner's office has yet to publicly identify the victim as investigations continue, as per FOX 32 Chicago. No arrests have been made in connection with the incident and the authorities are actively seeking to investigate thoroughly to bring those responsible to justice. Detectives from Area Five are currently working to possibly identify and track down the individuals from the black SUV who were involved in the exchange of gunfire.
