Marana is gearing up for the opening of the Sol Dog Lodge, an all-in-one sanctuary for canines, slated to welcome furry friends this coming spring. Kelle Maslyn, the assistant director for Pima County Economic Development, was among the select community members who donned hard hats to get a sneak peek at the 9,000 sq. ft. facility on Nov. 15. According to Pima County's Newsroom, the tour was led by Valerie Pullara, Sol Dog Lodge's executive director and incoming Vice Chair of the Pima County Small Business Commission.

The new facility not just promises a space for over 100 dogs to be boarded daily but expands its offerings into services such as behavioral assessment and training, grooming, and specialized care for dogs with unique needs. The phased construction plan shared by Pima County's Newsroom shows that the lodge is planned to flourish into an establishment including services for special needs dogs, while also making room for an on-site retail store.

With an emphasis on both pet and community wellness, Sol Dog Lodge's second phase will see the development of a full-service veterinary clinic. It will provide affordable veterinary and dental services alongside various wellness programs to ensure that both pets and their owners have access to necessary healthcare and guidance.

For those keen to learn more about this innovative project, Sol Dog Lodge's progress can be tracked on their official website.
