The Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) has announced that on December 25, services including Metrobus, Metrorail, and Metromover will operate on a Sunday schedule. However, MetroLink will take a holiday pause, not providing service during county-observed holidays, while other services continue to accommodate residents and visitors. Miami-Dade County offices also will be closed, which encompasses the DTPW's administrative, Customer Service, and Special Transportation (STS) offices, yet STS customers maintain a lifeline for reservations or cancellations at 305-871-1111 on the holiday itself, disclosed in an official communication from Miami-Dade County's government news release.
The transit will revert to its regular weekday service on December 24 and December 26, ensuring that commuters can maintain their schedules during the festive period. For those preferring digital interactions, there's the convenience of purchasing or reloading an EASY Card through various online platforms including the Transit Store or apps like Go-Miami Dade, Token Transit, Citymapper, and Transit App, all of which accept contactless payments for fares and offer real-time information.
Meanwhile, new applications for a Golden Passport EASY Card are still accepted through DTPW's online facilities, or for those unfortunate enough to have lost an item, there's a virtual Lost and Found to turn to. Updates and transit alerts are available for signup at miamidade.gov/alerts, and DTPW keeps an active social media presence on platforms including Facebook, X, and Instagram where they share updates and information about any changes to the schedule or services.
