While many are gearing up to celebrate the turning of the year, it's business as usual for the Miami-Dade Department of Solid Waste Management (DSWM). In an announcement that's sure to please those concerned about post-celebration cleanup, DSWM has confirmed that all waste and recycling collection services will proceed without interruption on New Year's Day, Wednesday. The Miami-Dade Department of Solid Waste Management official release states that disposal facilities will also maintain their standard hours of operation for the holiday.
Even as the rest of the city takes a break to welcome the new year, the rhythm of refuse trucks will not be stilled. While the DSWM Administrative offices will close their doors on New Year's Day, it should cause little inconvenience to the public. For those using WM, Inc.'s Medley Landfill, they will have ample time to dispose of the detritus of the year's end; the landfill will be open from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. on both Tuesday and Wednesday.
Residents with New Year's festivities on the agenda can count on uninterrupted services, but the DSWM urges those with items to toss to check the collection schedule ahead of time. Information about services is made available and inquiries can be addressed to the 311 Contact Center before the holiday.
In case you need to pull a disappearing act on your holiday rubbish, you don't have to wait until after the ball drops. All the information you need can be found by visiting DSWM's website.
