A tragic series of events unfolded this past weekend when a woman was discovered deceased along an Interstate 95 ramp in Miami-Dade County. According to Local 10, the body was found yesterday morning and promptly led to the closure of ramps by Florida Highway Patrol.
The discovery of a woman's body near Ives Dairy Road prompted a thorough investigation by Miami-Dade homicide detectives. The body found in a secluded area near I-95 led police to pursue a suspect in a high-speed chase. The pursuit ended in a dramatic crash in Miramar, Broward County, when the suspect collided with other vehicles while attempting to flee.
The person responsible for the commotion was detained later yesterday, after their vehicle, a black BMW SUV, became central to the chase that ended in Miramar. "It was our light actually, and he hit us from the side and he ran off," Gigi Dimanche told NBC Miami after her vehicle was struck by the fleeing suspect. Dimanche and her mother were among the unwitting victims of the car crash caused by the suspect's desperate escape effort.
As police now seek to fully unravel the events that led to the woman's death, Mayvis Morales recounted the distress she felt upon hearing of the accident involving her own family—to also include an infant. "(I was) nervous, sad because this happened and the baby was inside the car," Morales told NBC Miami.
The investigations into the homicide are ongoing, and the Miami-Dade Police Department is calling upon anyone with information to come forward. Detectives are hoping that nearby cameras might help to quickly piece together how the woman met her untimely end. An appeal has been made for anyone with information related to this case or others to contact Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
