Residents in Montgomery County and the City of Clarksville are set to experience a streamlined property tax payment process this season. For the fifth consecutive year, the two entities are cooperating to ease the burden on taxpayers, particularly for those with tax freeze and relief statuses. Starting December 3, 2024, through February 27, 2025, taxpayers can settle their city and county property taxes in a single visit, according to a joint announcement made earlier this week. The services will be available on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00am to 11:30am at the Montgomery County Trustee’s Office, located at 350 Pageant Lane in Veterans Plaza.
Representatives from both the Montgomery County Trustee’s Office and the City of Clarksville would be present at these sessions to facilitate the tax process. With proof of income and vouchers in hand, individuals can process payments if they are applicable. This collaboration allows for residents within the city limits, who are receiving tax relief, are provided the convenience of tending to their financial obligations harmoniously, at the same place and time, a benefit previously announced by the officials.
"We are pleased continue our partnership with the City of Clarksville for the convenience of our residents," Montgomery County Trustee Kimberly Wiggins said in a statement provided by the City of Clarksville. She added, "By addressing taxpayers' needs in one convenient location, we hope to provide stronger support and assistance to those who need it most in Montgomery County."
Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts also recognized the significance of this joint effort, noting the dual benefits of bolstering convenience for those who are partners in the local economy, and the taxpayers and enhancing local government efficiency. "This unique partnership ultimately helps to build convenience for taxpayers, and some added efficiency, into household taxpayer collections, services and support at the local level, and we are pleased to have this opportunity to partner with the County," Mayor Pitts told the City of Clarksville.
