
Early morning traffic on Interstate 840 East in Rutherford County was disrupted by a multi-vehicle crash around 6:42 a.m. near mile marker 61 on Thursday. The eastbound lanes were completely closed, and traffic was diverted at the Sulphur Springs Road exit. Tennessee Department of Transportation initially estimated the road would reopen by 10:30 a.m., according to Rutherford Source.
Following the closure, roadways were reopened by 10:57 a.m., easing delays for drivers. The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office oversaw traffic management, with support from Tennessee Department of Transportation and the Tennessee Highway Patrol who responded to the crash. It was later confirmed that the crash resulted in a fatality, as reported by WSMV.
A 20-year-old Tennessee man, Keson Robinson, died in a crash on I-840 when his vehicle crossed the median and collided head-on with another car. "Robinson was ejected from the vehicle" and was not wearing a seatbelt. The other driver, 49-year-old Vaughn Hill Jr., was injured, though the extent of his injuries was not immediately known. The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash, and further details about the incident and the injured driver have not been released, as stated by FOX 17.
