Early Monday morning, a garage fire in Putnam County claimed the lives of several family pets. The Putnam County Fire Department was called just before 6 a.m. to a fire at a home on High Flats Road in Monterey. When firefighters arrived, the two-car garage was fully engulfed, with the roof already collapsed, as stated by WSMV.
The fire crews were able to prevent the blaze from damaging the main residence, though the house sustained minor damage to its siding. According to WKRN, no human injuries were reported, but the family "did lose some pets in the fire."
Crews were on site for about an hour and a half to put out the fire and begin an investigation. Fire officials believe the fire was accidental but are still looking into the cause.
