In a case spotlighting how tech companies are playing a larger role in law enforcement, a Nashville man has been charged with sexual exploitation of a minor. Raymond L. Turner, 62, was arrested following a cyber tip from Google that flagged illegal activity taking place via his Google Pictures account. According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, the suspect allegedly uploaded images of child sexual abuse.
Turner was taken into custody at his Strasser Drive home after detectives from the Special Victims Division found electronic files related to the charges on his Google account. Having been described by authorities, Turner is now faced with three counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, featuring two aggravated charges. He has been jailed with bond set at $150,000.
Child safety and digital security are becoming increasingly interconnected as companies like Google are required to monitor and report suspicious activities to law enforcement. In Turner's case, it was this integration of technology and legal responsibility that ushered police to his digital doorstep, where the pivotal evidence for his arrest was procured.
