The Metro Nashville Police Department has announced the arrest of Rodney Haynes Jr., a convicted felon with outstanding warrants, including charges related to a shooting that occurred on Fain Street in October. According to WSMV, the 47-year-old was located and arrested in a University Court apartment on Thursday night, following detective work by the Specialized Investigations Division.
Housing authorities report that inside the apartment, officers found three handguns, two of which had been reported as stolen. One was taken from a Dickerson Pike apartment in 2021, and, the second from a vehicle on the 1300 block of 2nd Avenue South in 2022. FOX17 noted Haynes's refusal to exit the apartment, prompting police to forcibly enter the premises to apprehend him.
The recovered firearms have led to new charges for Haynes, who is now facing three counts of being a felon in possession of a handgun, in addition to charges for resisting arrest and violating his probation. With a history of convictions for aggravated robbery and cocaine possession, Haynes remains in custody with a bond set at $49,000, as confirmed by WKRN.
