
Last Saturday, on the bustling highway of I-40 West near Jefferson Street, tragedy unfolded when Karla Castillo-Garcia, a 23-year-old Nashville resident, was involved in a fatal collision. According to the Nashville Police Department, Castillo-Garcia was identified as the wrong-way driver who lost her life at the scene.
The initial reports suggest that the deceased was behind the wheel of a 2014 Toyota Corolla, driving eastbound in the lanes designated for westbound traffic. It was then that her vehicle met head-on with a 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac. The collision occurred around 3 a.m., and the male driver of the Ford, aged 24, was subsequently taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, having sustained non-life threatening injuries from the crash.
Investigators who examined the somber site stated that there were no immediate indicators of alcohol or drug use contributing to the incident. Officials have advised that toxicology tests will be administered to conclusively determine whether impairment played a role in the accident that resulted in Castillo-Garcia's untimely death.
