
Authorities in New Orleans are escalating their search for a man accused of assaulting and threatening the life of a Regional Transit Authority (RTA) bus driver on the evening of December 12. According to reports by WDSU, the incident occurred around 9:49 p.m. at the Canal and S. Prieur St. intersection when the suspect allegedly boarded the bus without paying the fare.
The situation escalated when the driver, supported by another RTA employee, confronted the individual. During the encounter, the man is reported to have struck the driver with an object and issued a threat to end their lives. The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) is treating the case as battery and has urged the public to contribute information that might help swiftly bring the suspect to justice. The NOPD actively works to not only apprehend the suspect but also to ensure security is fortified to prevent seating of future threats on these communal rides.
The NOPD has released images of the man believed to be responsible for the attack, hoping that the community's assistance will lead to his capture.
