An Oklahoma woman was arrested after her baby was found unattended at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood on Christmas Eve. According to NBC Miami, Rubi C. Verduzco, 29, faces child neglect charges for not knowing "not knowing who, where or for what length of time she left her baby," as stated in the arrest report by the Seminole Police Department.
Authorities were notified when a child was found near the casino's bell desk. Tribal police discovered an infant in a stroller, wearing a soiled diaper and left in the open. An employee reported that three men had left the baby at the desk and quickly walked away. Verduzco, later identified by her Oklahoma Medical Marijuana card, returned 15 to 20 minutes after police arrived and appeared intoxicated. She could not recall details about her child, including their birthday, according to 103.9 KISSMAS NIGHTS.
Police contacted a man Verduzco identified as the child's father, who was in Oklahoma. Initially, the father stated that the state should take custody of the baby, then later claimed he was in Orlando and unsure if he could retrieve the child. As a result, the Florida Department of Children and Families took custody of the infant.
Verduzco, from Bethany, Oklahoma, was booked into Broward County Jail on a $2,500 bond.
