
An early morning altercation on Chicago's Lower West Side escalated into gunfire, resulting in the death of one man and injuries to two others. The incident unfolded around 1:30 a.m. when a verbal exchange between a 25-year-old man and two 32-year-old men on the sidewalk of the 2000 block of South Paulina Street turned deadly.
The Chicago Sun-Times reports that all three individuals were struck by bullets during the shootout. The 25-year-old man was hit with multiple gunshot wounds to his body and later pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital. Meanwhile, one of the 32-year-old men is in critical condition after also being shot multiple times. The second man of the same age suffered a gunshot wound to the left arm and is reportedly in good condition.
As of now, no suspects have been apprehended in connection to the shooting. Area detectives are currently investigating the circumstances that led to this violent encounter. Further information has not been released as the investigation is ongoing.
