Hard work and adherence to standards in building safety in Palm Beach County have earned two local employees state recognition, as recent accolades were bestowed upon a pair of Planning, Zoning and Building Department professionals.

During an award ceremony by the Palm Beach County chapter of the Building Officials Association of Florida (BOAPBC) at the Airport Hilton Hotel in West Palm Beach, both Richard Rosales and Paul Coleman took home top honors; Rosales as "Plans Examiner of the Year" and Coleman awarded "Inspector of the Year", these marks of distinction underscore their commitment to maintaining the integrity of structures within the community.

In a statement obtained by Palm Beach County, PZB Executive Director Whitney Carroll, Esq. celebrated the recognition: "It’s a tremendous honor when a professional organization recognizes our employees for their expertise and dedication. Richard and Paul are exemplary professionals who work tirelessly to uphold building standards, and we are proud of their well-deserved recognition."

The award recipients bring considerable experience to the table, with Rosales holding multiple licenses as a residential and commercial inspector after beginning his career at the Palm Beach County School District 27 years prior, and Coleman overseeing the Remote On-Demand Video Inspection program for residential reroofs after joining the PZB Building Division in June 2014 and transitioning from Facilities Development and Operations to Structural Building Inspector in 2017, they both also possess various certifications and contribute their expertise to ensure the safety of Palm Beach County's built environment.

Doug Wise, the PZB Building Division Director, further highlighted the professionalism of the awardees "This recognition from industry professionals highlights the challenges faced daily by those in the building safety industry to ensure that structures and property improvements in Palm Beach County meet the Florida Building Code," he said on the Palm Beach County website, "We are incredibly proud of Richard and Paul and their contributions to the Building Division." The Building Officials Association of Florida, boasting over 3,000 members, acknowledges industry professionals for their commitment to public safety through the enforcement of construction codes and regulations, and Palm Beach County's representation among these recognitions speaks to its leading role in code development and education within the state.
