Early yesterday morning, a driver managed a narrow escape after crashing their vehicle into a Pompano Beach waterway, Broward Sheriff's Office reports. The incident, occurring just before 3:30 a.m. near Northwest Eighth Avenue and Center Port Circle, prompted a swift response from deputies and fire rescue teams, as per NBC Miami.
A preliminary examination of the scene led authorities to determine that, fortunately, the driver was able to exit the vehicle safely and return to land, and it was confirmed no other passengers were involved "The preliminary investigation revealed that a car went into the water, and the driver of the vehicle was able to safely exit the vehicle and make it back to land," BSO said according to NBC Miami.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office's dive team was dispatched to the area to facilitate the removal of the submerged vehicle, a complex process witnessed by local media, images of which show divers and emergency vehicles at the scene, cordoned off for investigation. While the driver, a 36-year-old individual, emerged unharmed, what exactly led to the vehicle's plunge into the lake remains unclear the investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the crash, with no immediate insights shared by detectives on probable causes or contributing factors.
