A Port St. Lucie teacher found himself behind bars this Thanksgiving after a shocking discovery at a local elementary school. Joe Franklin Urias, 34, was arrested on the holiday after local law enforcement, responding to a reported burglary, found him in the nude, accompanied by an array of sex toys and marijuana within the classroom walls of Windmill Point Elementary School, according to CBS12.

Urias who also taught at Somerset College Preparatory Academy was apprehended after a deputy spotted a naked man inside the school, around 9:30 p.m. the arrest ensued, he tried to flee, dressed hastily, and struck the officer in the face; despite his efforts, he was subsequently detained and taken into custody as reported by NBC Miami. The police found various personal items including women's undergarments, indicating he may have been staying at the school which was closed for Thanksgiving break.

Urias was hit with multiple charges including lewd and lascivious behavior, burglary of an unoccupied structure, marijuana possession, and battery on a law enforcement officer. NBC Miami notes that he claimed to be homeless, gaining entry to the school through an unlocked window. During the search, authorities uncovered not just the sex toys, but marijuana in a clear plastic container and a makeshift sleeping arrangement among his belongings.

Somerset College Preparatory Academy responded on their Facebook page, referring to Urias as a "former teacher" and providing assurances of full cooperation with the ongoing law enforcement investigation, they emphasized the school's commitment to the safety of its students and families, promising administrative handling and necessary actions to prevent his return on campus as per CBS12's findings. Urias is currently held at St. Lucie County jail with bail set at $31,000.
