Get ready for a strings of dreary days, Portlanders. According to the National Weather Service, it's mostly cloudy out there with a current temperature of 43°F. Humidity lingers at 81%, and we've got a south breeze barely pushing at 5 MPH. And yes, while it's chilly, the wind chill isn't too far off at 40°F.
Today's forecast doesn’t promise much sunshine, with a 40 percent chance of showers and an expected high of 47 degrees. The calm south southeast wind won't offer much relief, blowing lightly at 3 to 7 mph. As night falls, grab your umbrellas – rain is on the roster after 9pm, and the likelihood of precipitation skyrockets to 100%. With new rainfall amounts between a quarter, and half of an inch possible.
Don't put those umbrellas away just yet because tomorrow comes with more rain. Temperatures will hover near 49 with a mild south southeast wind around 6 mph. Once again, NWS states you can bet on precipitation with certainty – 100%, to be exact – though it seems to ease up just a tad, with forecasted amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch.
The rest of the week unfolds in a similar fashion. Tuesday portends more wet skies, particularly in the late afternoon, with a 60% likelihood of rain and potential for another tenth to a quarter inch. Nighttime doesn't look any drier, as rain is expected before 7pm followed by showers continuing well past sunset. The consistent patter of rain will accompany us through to Wednesday morning – an 80% chance – before giving us a brief, hopeful respite.
But not too hopeful. NWS advises that showers may still grace us, especially before dawn on Thursday and then again after breakfast. A repeating cycle of mostly cloudy skies and sporadic rain seems to be our reality through the weekend.
