A blaze that erupted in a Putnam County residence on Monday evening resulted in a total loss of the home. The Putnam County Fire Department received the call and responded to the scene on E. Whitehall Road around 8:15 p.m., as firefighters faced a substantial fire emanating from the rear of the structure, WKRN reported. After hours of relentless efforts, crews working through the night declared the home a "total loss."

Despite the firefighters' split into groups for a strategic attack, the rear exterior team and another attempting entry through the front door, they encountered severe challenges due to the home's construction and the fire's magnitude. The fire that had taken over the attic forced the interior team to retreat hastily, battling a house whose structural integrity began to fail, ultimately collapsing in part. As shared by WSMV, water supply issues further complicated the firefighting efforts.

The operation spanned six exhausting hours, with more than 20 personnel and ten apparatuses from the Putnam County Fire Department, according to details from 3B Media News. As the crews aimed for a full exterior attack, the structure's components began to crumble, causing a part of the roof to cave in.

Thankfully, all the residents managed to escape the harrowing event unharmed, and no injuries were reported among the fire crews who were on the scene. Putnam County EMS was present, providing medical coverage and rehabilitation to the firefighters. The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office took charge of the traffic situation, which was "severely impacted" for the duration of the fire control activities, as the road was closed.
