The Salt Lake City Police Department (SLCPD) is sending out a seasonal reminder to residents to take extra precautions during the winter months, emphasizing the importance of maintaining clear visibility while driving. The recent accident happened on a chilly Wednesday morning and involved the vehicle tipping onto its side after the driver could not see through the frosted glass.

At around 8:32 a.m. on December 11, responding officers arrived at the scene near 1350 East 1700 South and noted that the driver’s view had been significantly obstructed by a windshield caked in frost. The preliminary investigation suggested that a medical condition, coupled with poor visibility, could have contributed to the driver crashing into an adjacent parked car, causing his SUV to roll over. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported as a result of this mishap, and the man was transported to the hospital by paramedics for evaluation.

"Utah law states it is illegal to operate a motor vehicle with any debris, frost, or other substance that materially obstructs the operator’s view," according to the SLCPD, highlighting potential legal repercussions for driving without clear visibility.
