Several long-time elected officials of Salt Lake County are getting ready to bid their offices goodbye as the County Council prepares to honor them with a special ceremony. Among those being celebrated are Councilman Jim Bradley, Councilwoman Ann Granato, Councilman David Alvord, Surveyor Reid Demman, and Treasurer K. Wayne Cushing. This event, marking 70 years of combined public service, is open for all who wish to attend and express their gratitude, according to Salt Lake County.
The celebration, scheduled for December 17 will start at 4:00 PM and take place at the Council Chambers inside the Salt Lake County Government Center. In addition to the formal reading of proclamations to honor the dedication of the departing officials, the meeting promises to provide a space for colleagues and friends to reminisce and honor years of commitment, directly following the proclamations.
As a token of appreciation and remembrance, there will be a reception featuring refreshments and moments for the attendees to share their memories and appreciation. This event is not just a formal farewell but also a community gathering to celebrate the achievements and dedicated years of service brought forth by these local leaders. It accentuates the Council's intention to foster a sense of community and collective respect for those who serve the public.
The community event also symbolizes a transition, preparing for a change in leadership and offering a communal platform for the public to interact with those who have helped shape the county's policy decisions over the years. Established at 2001 S State Street, North Building, the Government Center will open its Council Chambers to anyone in the public desiring to show their support and join in the thanksgiving. Such an event underscores not just a culmination of individual careers but a moment of civic transition, a baton passed in the enduring relay of democratic governance.
